An Explanation of the Oxygen
Based Products
The hydrogen peroxide based products are very simple products. Only the
technology to make them is difficult. The following definitions will be
helpful in understanding the products, and how they work.
Oxygen (O2):
a colorless, odorless, tasteless, gaseous chemical element that occurs
in the atmosphere, forming 1/5 of its volume. It combines with nearly
all other elements; is the most common element in the earth's crust; and
is essential to life processes.
Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2):
a colorless, syrupy liquid, often used in dilute, unstable solutions as
a bleaching or disinfecting agent, and in high concentrations as a
rocket fuel. Hydrogen peroxide will bleach hair, NOT the skin.
Water (H2O):
chemically a compound of hydrogen and oxygen. It contains one less
oxygen molecule than hydrogen peroxide.
Catalase: a red crystalline enzyme that consists of a protein
complex with hematin groups and catalyzes the decomposition of hydrogen
peroxide into water and oxygen. It is found in the skin.
Beta-carotene: The precursor to vitamin A. Beta-carotene is
converted by the body to vitamin A. When incorporated in a suitable
cosmetic emulsion, beta-carotene prevents and reduces both peroxidation
and skin roughness induced by UV. It also improves the levels of
hydration.
Vitamin E: any of several fat-soluble vitamins that are
chemically tocopherols, are essential in nutrition of various
vertebrates in which their absence is associated with infertility,
degenerative changes in muscle, or vascular abnormalities, are found
esp. in leaves and in seed germ oils, and used chiefly in animal feeds
and as antioxidants; esp : Alpha Tocopherol.
When hydrogen peroxide contacts the skin, it ALWAYS breaks down into
water and oxygen due to the presence of the enzyme, Catalase. Instead of
the oxygen being released on the surface of the skin and escaping to the
atmosphere, as with aqueous hydrogen peroxide, the oxygen penetrates the
skin. This is due to the oil phase of the emulsion, which creates a
barrier to the oxygen. The skin becomes the path of least resistance.
When hydrogen peroxide changes from a liquid to a gas (which is
instantaneously), it increases in volume 22.4 times. This increase in
volume is what causes the pressure and why it penetrates the skin. We
use plastic wrap during the salon treatment to maximize the pressure and
to keep the emulsion, moist.
The oxygen is a gas only during this instantaneous reaction. When it
penetrates the skin, it is dissolved in the extracellular water and in
the capillary plasma. Molecular oxygen (gas) can only exist in the lungs.
When oxygen penetrates the skin, it acts as a vehicle and takes the
beta-carotene and water with it and if it contains other ingredients, it
will also carry those along with it. The beta-carotene is converted to
vitamin A by the body.
The presence of the oxygen in the plasma of the blood can be measured
using medical monitoring equipment. You can visibly see the water under
the skin.
There are no blood vessels in the outer layers of the skin. Capillaries
are responsible for supplying the skin cells with nutrients. Circulation
in the capillaries is at best, not very good. As we age, the capillaries
become less permeable and let little or no oxygen and nutrients pass to
the extracellular fluid, which surrounds the cells. The lymph drainage
system is responsible for removing the wastes of the cells. To have
healthy skin, the skin must be properly balanced with oxygen, water,
nutrients, good capillary circulation and good lymph drainage. The
ability of skin to repair itself after injury lies in the ability to
grow new vessels from the capillaries.
We cannot get enough oxygen to the cells by inhalation. There is also
the problem of dehydration to the skin. When the skin is not balanced
and healthy, the skin glands do not function properly. The results are
the skin problems estheticians must face each day.
Normally, the skin renews itself about every twenty-eight days. To
properly reproduce, the cells must have the necessary elements. The
oxygen based products can assist in locally supplying these elements.
The original idea of a massage was to stimulate the blood circulation
and thereby increasing the supply of nutrients. But the massage cannot
supply the nutrients for a healthy skin. The oxygen based products
can....
Why Hydrogen Peroxide?
Hydrogen peroxide has
been around for over one hundred years. Almost every home has a bottle
of 3% aqueous hydrogen peroxide in the medicine cabinet. It has been
used to disinfect cuts and scraps; bleach hair; launch rockets into
space; to preserve milk; and many other uses, including being used as a
treatment for medical disorders. There are over 4,000 published papers
on the use of "oxygen therapy'' and most of this therapy is based on the
use of hydrogen peroxide. It is even found naturally in the body, in
small amounts.
Hydrogen peroxide treatments are used in many countries. It is taken
orally and some doctors even inject it as a treatment for many disorders.
This practice is frowned upon in the United States, but accepted in
other countries.
As stated in the previous pages, hydrogen peroxide liberates oxygen and
water when it contacts the skin. The problem has always been the ability
to harness this chemical reaction, as hydrogen peroxide is not very
stable in the aqueous form. Oxygen kills anaerobic bacteria, which are
generally the harmful bacteria. Tamed iodine kills bacteria, by
poisoning them. Other disinfectants act the same way. Hexachlorophene
kills bacteria, but due to harmful side effects, it was taken off the
market. Most antiseptics and disinfectants work on the principle of 'poisoning'
the bacteria. Hydrogen peroxide kills the bacteria by high pressures of
oxygen; anaerobic bacteria cannot live in an oxygen rich environment.
Propionibacterium Acnes is a bacteria responsible for many of the acne
problems. Many acne treatments on the market use benzoyl peroxide.
Peroxides releases oxygen in chemical reactions. Benzoyl peroxide was
used, for this purpose, to liberate oxygen. At the time, it was more
stable than hydrogen peroxide and could be formulated in several forms,
for application to the skin.
The discovery of a stabilized form of hydrogen peroxide, now sheds a
different light on this subject. The following is very basic chemistry,
and should make all this clear.
Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2),
has a molecular weigh of 34.02. It is 94.06% oxygen and 5.94% hydrogen.
It breaks down to oxygen and water.
Benzoyl Peroxide (C14H1004),
has a molecular weigh of 242.22. It is 69.42% carbon, 4.16% hydrogen and
26.42% oxygen.
Based on the percentages of oxygen available in each of the above, there
is no question about which peroxide can liberate more oxygen. This has
been known for a long time. The problem was, hydrogen peroxide was not
available in a form suitable for use as a skin application.
Hydrogen peroxide has low toxicity and its decomposition products,
water and oxygen, are harmless. These advantages have led to an
increased use of hydrogen peroxide. A growing environmental awareness in
the past few decades has also contributed to making hydrogen peroxide a
very important industrial product.
AURA Research's stabilized emulsion of hydrogen peroxide, is now
the product of choice, as it is a suitable form of hydrogen peroxide for
skin application. It has also been successfully combined with other
ingredients that are beneficial to the skin. New combinations are
currently under study and will be available in the future.
Salicylic acid, one of the three FDA approved treatments for acne
has been combined with the hydrogen peroxide emulsion. This combination
gives you an advantage over persons not using the oxygen emulsion for
their clients with acne. Salicylic acid is used in many over the counter,
acne treatments. It is also an exfoliant. A small amount of salicylic
acid is in all our oxygen products.
Now, let's get back to basic skin care. The emulsion supplies the skin
cells with water and oxygen, both of which are necessary for normal
cellular functions. Most every article and advertisement concerning
skin, concerns dehydrated skin. Why is skin dehydrated? Because as we
age the epidermis thins out and the function of the dermis becomes
sluggish. Therefore, water is not retained as efficiently as in younger
skin. It is dehydrated due to a lack of water so "moisturizers" are used
to prevent water loss.
The oxygen emulsion products supply water to the skin cells. They also
supply oxygen, which is needed for normal cellular metabolism. Combined
with other ingredients, it is now possible to supply the skin cells with
what they need to function normally.
AURA Research's oxygen emulsion products are made in a FDA registered
laboratory, using only pharmaceutical grade ingredients. Each batch is
checked, sampled and a batch number is on every container. Extensive
testing and quality control procedures insure that you are getting the
highest quality product, possible.
We listen to our clients. A few expressed concerns about mineral oil.
While I and many other formulators still believe mineral oil to be an
excellent cosmetic ingredient, we have removed it from our oxygen
emulsion products.
Many asked for an effective sunscreen. We now have a product with an SPF/15.
This product was individually tested according to the FDA
guidelines for making a sunscreen claim.
Our oxygen emulsion products have received nationwide exposure. Articles

Excerpts From Published Papers on
Beta-Carotene and Other Vitamins
"[Beta]-Carotene, precursor
of vitamin A, appears to protect against skin damage and dehydration
caused by UV irradiation. Italian investigators used a topical cosmetic
emulsion containing [Beta]-carotene.[1] In animals, they evaluated the
products ability; to diminish peroxidation induced by UV irradiation.
Then, in 30 women aged 30 to 45, they did a double-blind study of the
product's effect on level of stratum corneum rehydration and its
protective action against induced skin roughness (by negative replicas
of skin areas). They found that, when incorporated in a suitable
cosmetic emulsion, [Beta]-carotene prevented or reduced both
peroxidation and skin roughness induced by UV. Moreover, it improved the
level of hydration."[2]
"There has been no report of toxic symptoms resulting from excessive
intake of carotene. Therefore [beta] carotene could be given to pregnant
and lactating women to increase their body stores and the vitamin A
content of milk since [beta] carotene is safer than retinyl palmitate
and has no risk of teratogenicity."[2]
"Beta-carotene appears to be as effective as retinyl palmitate in
treating vitamin A deficiency in children... Because is mostly derived
from fruits and vegetables, rather than from animal products as retinyl
esters are, it may provide a cheaper source of treatment."[3]
"Beta-carotene protects against photooxidative dermatitis in prophyric
humans and mice by quenching of photoactivated species. Other actions of
beta-carotene in vivo are explained on the basis of its ability to
scavenge free radicals in vitro."[4]
"Tocopherols and tocotrienols (vitamin E) and ascorbic acid(vitamin C)
as well as the carotenoids react with free radicals, notably peroxyl
radicals, and with singlet molecular oxygen, this being the basis of
their function as antioxidants."[5]
"The ability of beta-carotene
to serve as precursor to retinoic acid was examined in vitro with
cytosol prepared from rat tissue... Thus, beta-carotene metabolism may
be an important source of retinoic acid in retinoid target tissues,
particularly in species such as humans that are capable of accumulating
high concentrations of tissue carotenoids. Retinal, considered an
initial retinoid product of beta-carotene metabolism, was not detected
as a product of beta-carotene metabolism in vitro. A ratio of retinol
and retinoic acid different from that observed during beta-carotene
metabolism in vitro was observed with incubations of retinal under
identical conditions. These data indicated that beta-carotene metabolism
is not merely a simple process of producing retinal and releasing it
into solution to be metabolized independently."[6]

"Because the most potent of the carotenoids tested (i.e. beta carotene,
alpha carotene, canthaxanthin) all have the potential for conversion to
retinoids (though this has never been demonstrated in mammals for
canthaxanthin), it is suggested that these compounds have two components
to their action; one related to their antioxidant properties, the other
to their pro-vitamin A activities."[7]

Instructions for Salon
Use
FACIAL - Normal and Aging Skin
Since the oxygen emulsion contains hydrogen
peroxide, it is a very effective antiseptic.
You can use it as a disinfectant for your hands, prior to giving a
facial.
Begin by thoroughly cleaning the face and neck with the Cleanser.
If you are using another cleanser, make sure you completely remove it.
Since the oxygen products actually penetrate the skin, you must make
sure the skin is clean. Put some Cleanser on your fingertips and
rub your fingertips together in small circles to help liquefy the
Cleanser. Gently massage the face, using a small circular motion,
add a few drops of warm water to the Cleanser.
YOU MUST ADD WATER
TO THE CLEANSER in order for it to work properly. Making a
waterless Cleanser allows us to keep it free of preservatives. It
is very hydrophilic, and acts in three phases. First, it is very oily.
As you add the warm water, it gets "milky" and then gets a "silky" feel
to it. Remove it with warm water and cotton pads, or other warm, moist,
soft material.
Apply a small amount of the Scrub and gently massage the face and
neck in small circular motions, adding a few drops of warm water at a
time. Adding the water is important and will make the Scrub
easier to use. Avoid stretching the skin. The length of the massage will
depend on the condition of the skin, but should not exceed 2 or 3
minutes. Completely remove the Scrub with warm water and cotton
pads or other soft material.
Apply a thin film of arO2
Face
to the face and neck, avoiding the eyelashes and eyebrows. This will act
as an antiseptic and will soften the sebum. It will make the extractions
much easier for you and more comfortable for your client. If the client
has dry, thin skin, leave it on for 3 to 5 minutes. If the client has
thick skin, acne, or comedones, you can leave it on 8 to 10 minutes. You
can cover it with kitchen plastic wrap, which will keep it from drying
out. You can divide the plastic wrap into three parts; one for the
forehead; one for the middle of the face; and one for the chin and neck
area. Remove one section of the plastic wrap at a time. Fold it in half,
so that when you are finished with that section, you can reapply it, and
go on to the next section. Remove any excess
arO2
Face, otherwise the skin may be too slippery to do your
extractions. When you have finished with all three sections, you can
discard the plastic wrap. The removal of the arO2
Face is done with warm water and cotton pads or other warm, moist
soft material.
Massage the face with Facial Oil. It is a very light oil and
normally, most of it will be absorbed. If some oil is left on the skin,
just leave it there, and proceed with the Mask.
Apply a thin film of arO2
Mask, with a brush to the face and neck area. Cover with plastic
wrap as you did before. Leave the Mask on for 10 to 15 minutes.
If you wish, you can leave it on longer without any problems. Remove the
Mask with warm water and a sponge, cotton pads or other warm,
moist soft material.
On the face and neck, apply a thin film of the arO2
product suiting the skin type being treated.
Instructions For Salon Use
Acne Skin
The basic steps for this treatment are very
similar to a regular facial. The treatment will have to be
individualized for each client, depending on the condition and
sensitivity of the skin and the extent of the acne. Use the same
products, but adjust the different steps to suit the individual case.
Cleanse the face as for a normal facial.
Depending on the condition of the skin, and if you are using an AHA
product you may skip the Scrub.
Apply a film of the arO2
Face to the face and neck and cover it with plastic wrap as
mentioned in the regular facial. You can leave the arO2
Face on for 8 to 10 minutes. If you will be doing extractions,
this will aid in making them easier and more comfortable for your client.
Reapply the plastic wrap on one section before going to the next section
and reapply some arO2
Face especially if you have done many extractions. When finished,
remove the arO2
Face with warm water and cotton pads or other soft material.
Apply the arO2
Mask with a brush to the face and neck. Cover with plastic wrap.
Leave the Mask for 15 to 20 minutes. You can leave the Mask on longer
without any problems. Remove it with warm water and cotton pads or other
soft material.
You may want to spot treat the face with some the arO2
3%. Put a small dab on the trouble spots and leave it for about 5
minutes. Remove it and depending on the condition of the skin, finish
the facial with either the arO2
1% or arO2
2%.
Skin With A Tendency toward Acne
Clients who have a tendency towards acne,
but are not broken out, should use arO2
1%.
If they use
arO2
2%
or arO2
3%,
they may break out.
Since the oxygen products are so effective against the acne bacteria,
they will kill the bacteria faster than the lymph drainage system of the
body can remove it. The lymph drainage system is responsible for
removing white blood cells and toxins, when they occur in the body. But,
if the bacteria are killed faster than the lymph drainage system can
remove them, the body has no other choice but to try to eliminate them
through the skin.
If clients with this tendency, break out using the
arO2
1%,
they should immediately reduce the frequency of use, to once a day. This
will slow the process, giving the lymph drainage system time to remove
the toxins.
The philosophy of "if a little is good, a lot is better," is not true.
While everyone wants quick results, it may not be the best approach if
it causes the skin to break out. This condition is more the exception
than the rule, but it is important to be aware of it.
When treating clients with acne, which is already broken out, the
stronger forms can be used. In the beginning of the treatment, you may
see an increase in eruptions as the body eliminates the increased amount
of toxins. After a few days, the eruptions should begin to diminish.
All such clients should be closely monitored to insure the proper
treatment is being used in each individual case. Depending on the
results, you can adjust the treatments accordingly.
Facial's
Combining arO2 with AHA's
Many estheticians use the arO2
Face 2%
or the
arO2
Mask
when using Glycolic Acid. Whether you use it before of
after the Glycolic Acid is totally dependent upon the strength and
acidity (pH) of the AHA that you are working with.
AHA concentrations between 20% to 40% that have
a pH between 2.0 to 3.0:
-
The arO2
Face 2%
is applied first.
-
Apply the Face Cream and
cover with plastic wrap.
-
Wait 3 – 5 minutes.
-
Thoroughly remove the
Face Cream with warm water and a soft cloth or cottonwool.
-
The AHA is then applied
to the clean skin.
-
The skin must be clean and free from any
traces of arO2
Face 2%
Cream.
-
Apply the AHA
meticulously following the instructions provided by the manufacturer.
-
Then proceed with your
extractions.
-
Be aware of the
increased sensitivity of the skin that results from using a strong
AHA.
AHA concentrations
between 20% to 40% that have a pH above 3.0:
-
The AHA is applied
first.
-
Apply the AHA
meticulously following the instructions provided by the
manufacturer.
-
The arO2
Face 2%
is then applied.
-
The skin must be clean
and free from any traces of the AHA
-
Apply the Face Cream and
cover with plastic wrap.
-
Wait 3 – 5 minutes.
-
Then proceed with your
extractions.
-
Follow the procedure for performing
extractions using arO2
Face
cream that is discussed in the "Instructions for
Salon Use" section of the
arO2
Professional Guide.
Acne and Mature Skin
This exfoliating and
oxygenating procedure has been used in salons across the world for many
years. Aestheticians have been achieving excellent results using this
method on acne clients by simply having them come in once or twice a
week for a 15 to 30 minute treatment.
Pre and Post Facial Plastic Surgery
The arO2
products and treatments have
proven to be very beneficial in the preparation of the skin prior to
facial plastic surgery and in the healing of the skin during the post
surgery period. The products accelerates fading of the bruising by
enhancing the lymphatic drainage process.
Product Information and Home Use
All of the arO2
oxygen based products have the same foundation of ingredients: Deionized
water, hydrogen peroxide, beta-carotene, tocopherol acetate, ascorbyl
palmitate salicylic acid, tetrasodium EDTA and the ingredients to make
the emulsion. AURA Research has formulated a full line of oxygen
therapy products using varied base amounts of hydrogen peroxide and
successfully combining beneficial ingredients, such as, AHA's,
hyaluronic acid, yeast extract, lactic acid, salicylic acid, sunscreens,
urea (and others in the future)
EVERY AURA Research product contains a COMPLETE
Listing Of Its Ingredients.
Most of our oxygen based products are
FRAGRANCE FREE.
The new Day and Night Cream contain a natural orange extract as a
fragrance.
arO2
1% (specific product as per skin type)
This is the product most of your clients will use. It can be used on
everybody. For very sensitive skin, if necessary, you can start out
using it once a day and as the skin starts to adjust, increase it to
twice a day.
Start by removing any makeup and cleansing the skin in the evenings with
the Cleanser. After removing the Cleanser, you then apply
a thin film of the arO2
1% to the face and neck. Allow 2 to 3 minutes for it to penetrate.
If there is much of the cream left on the face, you have used too much.
The little amount that remains can be gently massaged into the skin.
In the morning, after rinsing your face and neck with warm water, apply
a thin film arO2
as you did in the evening. After it has penetrated, you can apply makeup.
AVOID DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE EYES WHEN USING ANY OF OUR OXYGEN
BASED PRODUCTS.
arO2
2%
Directions for use are the same as for the
arO2
1%. This product contains 2% oxygen and is normally used on
thicker skin; oily skin and problem skin. It can be used on most skin,
except very sensitive skin.
arO2
3%
Used for spot treating acne, hyperpigmentation and other skin
problems. It is normally only applied to the problem area and not the
whole face. Place a small dab on each problem spot and let penetrate for
5 to 10 minutes. It can either be removed or gently massaged into the
skin. This will depend on how sensitive the skin is. In the cases of
severe acne, it is best just to remove it, as even a gently massage may
cause discomfort.
Cleanser
The Cleanser does not contain any water and is a blend of different oils.
Since it does not contain water, it does not have any preservatives in
it. It is excellent for removing makeup and especially for sensitive
skin. You MUST add water to it, when using it. The Cleanser is
very hydrophilic and will adsorb a lot of water. It will start out as an
oil, then change to a milky lotion. You must remove it with warm water
and cotton pads or other soft material.
Put a little of the Cleanser on your fingertips and rub your
fingertips together. The warmth of your fingers, will start to liquefy
the Cleanser. Gently massage the face and neck using small
circular motions, ADDING A FEW DROPS OF WARM WATER, AT A TIME.
After the Cleanser has gotten very "milky," remove it with warm
water and cotton pads or other soft material.
The Cleanser is very effective, when used properly and is
excellent for dry skin or you can use it on a warm moist cotton ball to
remove eye makeup.
If you properly use the Cleanser in the evening, you can just
rinse your face in the morning with warm water, and then apply the
appropriate arO2
product your esthetician recommended.
Scrub
The Scrub is a mild abrasive and helps to remove dead cells. Use
once or twice a week. After cleansing, apply a small of the Scrub
to your fingertips and gently massage your face and neck with a small
circular motion. Add a few drops of warm water, at a time. This will
make the Scrub easier to apply. Avoid stretching the skin.
Massage for about 2 minutes. Remove the Scrub with warm water and
cotton pads or other soft material.
arO2
Mask
Dried milk is mixed with deionized water, and used as a base for
this oxygen emulsion. The Mask also contains beta-carotene,
tocopherol acetate and ascorbyl palmitate. The milk gives the Mask
a "sticky" feeling. The plastic wrap is used to keep it from drying out.
The Mask should stay moist during use.
Use once or twice a week, after cleansing. Apply a thin film of the
Mask to your face and neck. If you have very dry skin, you can
gently massage in a few drops of the Facial Oil, before applying
the Mask. Cover the Mask with any brand of kitchen plastic
wrap. You can divide the plastic wrap into two or three sections. This
should make it easier to apply. Leave in place for 20 minutes. Remove
the plastic wrap and use warm water and a soft sponge, cotton pads or
other soft material, to remove the Mask. You can then apply the
arO2
product suitable for the skin type you are treating.
arO2
Body/1%
A 1% oxygen for use on the whole body after a
shower or bath. After drying, apply a thin film to the body. It is
normally not necessary to massage it in, as it is usually completely
absorbed.
arO2
Body/4%
A 4% oxygen for use on cellulite. Apply a thin film morning and evening
to the problem area. Massaging is not necessary, but if you do massage,
wear plastic gloves. Cover the area with plastic wrap, if possible.
Leave on for at least 20 minutes. Remove with warm water and cotton pads
or other soft material.
Use this product only as directed by your skin care professional. It is
NOT to be used on the face. There are many types and causes of cellulite,
and this product should be used together with salon treatments. Proper
diet, exercise and other factors are essential. There is no one answer
to the problem of cellulite.
Facial Oil
A blend of Avocado and sesame oil with vitamins A and E. For dry skin
and for use when giving a facial massage, before using the Mask.
Apply a few drops and gently massage into the skin.
arO2
Eye Cream
Unique product, specially formulated for use in the eye area. It is a 1%
oxygen emulsion with hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a large
molecule and can hold 400 times its own weight in water. Apply a fine

THIS PEEL IS FOR PROFESSIONAL USE
ONLY!
Aura Enzyme Peel (Papaya)
(Normal, Oily/Problem/Acneic/Mature
Skin Types)
Description. A special
Enzymatic-Keratolytic-Micro-Exfoliation treatment with natural papaya
extracts which removes the excess corneum layers and dead tissues on the
skin. It pre-softens clogged pores and helps to normalize impure skin
conditions. After the treatment the skin is soft, smooth and supple and
the pores are refined and tightened.
DO NOT USE ON VERY
SENSITIVE SKIN. THIS PEELING DOES NOT NEED TO BE ACTIVATED WITH A VAPOR
MACHINE.
YOU CAN ADJUST THE AMOUNT OF
PEEL AND WATER TO VARY THE DEGREE OF THE PEEL.
Directions.
1. Thick, Acneic and Oily Skin – For a light peeling, mix
about two tablespoons of PAPAYAENZYME PEEL with one tablespoon of cold
water. For a stronger peel, mix with one tablespoon of PAPAYA
CONTROLLING LOTION. Leave on skin 5 – 7 minutes. Remove with warm water.
-
Thin, Dry-Mature
Skin – For a light abrasive peeling, mix about two
tablespoons PAPAYA
ENZYME PEEL with one
tablespoon of cold water or with one tablespoon of PAPAYA CONTROLLING
LOTION for a stronger peel. Leave on skin for 3 – 4 minutes. Remove with
warm water.
-
Revitalizing
Peeling – for all skin types EXCEPT SENSITIVE.
An excellent alternative to strong
glycolic and/or AHA peelings that can be too aggressive/invasive. Mix
two tablespoons of PAPAYA ENZYME PEEL with 1 tablespoon of PAPAYA
CONTROLLING LOTION. Apply with a Mask Brush and leave on for 15 – 20
minutes. (The degree of peeling will be determined by the time length
of application).
IMPORTANT!
Please
make sure that your client understands that when doing the "revitalizing
peel", it is very strong and the skin will continue to peel for 2 – 4
days. The client should avoid the sun during this time.
DO NOT COMBINE ANY TREATMENT PROCEDURES WITH THE APPLICATION OF THE
REVITALIZING PEEL,
SUCH AS STEAM, BRUSHING, MASSAGE,
ETC.
Plan your treatment so
that there is a 2 – 3 day span after the application. After the third (3rd)
day you may cleanse, tone, massage and apply a serum as well as the
Oxygen Mask. By allowing the time lapse in between the peel and the
treatment, you allow the skin to rebalance from the Enzymatic Peel.
Always make sure to REMOVE THE PEEL THOROUGHLY. Use warm water and
sanitized sponges and gently remove the PEEL. Follow with cleanser and
toner until the PEEL is completely removed from the skin.
If you feel that client has a history of sensitivity or is congested,
mix a small amount of the SOOTHING MASK with the peel. This will buffer
the action of the PEEL and minimize sensitization.
Ingredients. China Clay, Celite Diatomite, Papaya Powder, Bromelain,
Papain, Citric Acid, Ascorbic Acid.

Benefits of Hydrogen Peroxide
Emulsions
The traditional hyperbaric
oxygen (HBO) therapy treatment involves intermittent inhalation of pure
oxygen under a pressure greater than one atmosphere. The oxygen
environment we live in is considered to be one atmosphere. Oxygen
pressure greater than one atmosphere is considered to be hyperbaric. HBO
acts both mechanically due to its pressure component (hyperbaric oxygen
chamber), and physiologically, due to its oxygen component (inhalation of
100% oxygen).
Aura Research's oxygen emulsion is an oil-in-water emulsion of hydrogen
peroxide.
The hydrogen peroxide emulsion is a mechanical mechanism.
Some of the benefits are:
-
supplies oxygen and water to skin
cells. Oxygen can be measured before and after. The after readings
show dramatic increase in pO 2 (partial
pressure of oxygen).
-
hydrogen peroxide is classified
as Category 1, safe and effective as topical antiseptic agent and is
used on open wounds where it generates oxygen immediately upon
contact. It is used in toothpaste, mouthwashes and other oral
products.
-
hydrogen peroxide does not
initiate nor promote tumors.
-
dilute solutions of hydrogen
peroxide are not irritating.
-
oxygen acts as a vehicle and
carries other ingredients with it.
-
compatible ingredients used that
have known benefits to the skin: beta-carotene, alpha tocopherol,
ascorbyl palmitate, beta glucan, lactic acid, lactic/glycolic acid
liposome, hyaluronic acid, UVA & UVB sunscreens, urea, salicylic
acid, ceramides, etc., are used in some of the formulas.
-
dermal irritation studies
available.
-
SPF-15 rating according to
testing as specified in Federal Register, by independent laboratory.
-
acts as a local hyperbaric oxygen
treatment.
-
effective against acne. (in-vitro
testing)
-
hyperbaric oxygen is known to aid
in wound healing.
-
currently available in the US,
only through skin care professionals.
-
minimum two year shelf life.
Abstract of study "Hydrogen
Peroxide Emulsions" was presented to the "Dermal Clinical Evaluation
Society" at a poster session on June 15. Study was conducted by Dr.
